Juli Borst

A versatile musician and performer, mezzo soprano Juli Borst has performed with Tanglewood Music Center, Chelsea Opera, dell’Arte Opera Ensemble, Des Moines Metro Opera, New Rochelle Opera, New York City Opera National Company, and Chautauqua Opera, among others. Favorite opera roles of the Kansas native include Der Komponist (Ariadne auf Naxos), Prince Orlovsky (Die Fledermaus), Siebel (Faust), Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro) and Hansel (Hansel and Gretel). Recent performances with Bronx Opera include the roles of Tisbe in Cinderella, Julia in Kirke Mechem’s The Rivals and Lucia in Rossini’s rarely performed La gazza ladra (“Juli Borst’s interpretation of Lucia [did] an excellent job of setting the foundation for the entire rest of the show to build on.” Joseph Conway, Drama-Queens.net). Through a long association with Dr. Gwendolyn Toth of New York’s early music ensemble ARTEK, Juli has performed several sacred early works such as Schütz’s Musikalische Exequien (marking the beginning of the 500th Anniversary Year of the Lutheran Reformation) this past October, both Scarlatti and Pergolesis’ Stabat Maters, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Handel’s Music for Vespers, Michael Haydn’s St. Francis of Assisi Mass, among others. Juli holds a B.M. from Kansas State University and a M.M. from Arizona State University.
